Anthony Rizzo Trolls The Astros

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo has led MLB in hit by pitches two of the last three seasons and he’s been near the top of the leaderboard ever since 2014. However, a few Astros might leapfrog Rizzo in 2020, as players around the league are pissed following the exposure of Houston’s cheating scandal.

Of course you have members of the Yankees and Dodgers speaking out against the Astros, but pitchers are obviously furious too. It’s become such a concern that teams will retaliate by hitting Astros players on purpose that MLB commissioner Rob Manfred is warning the rest of the league about it.

Back to Rizzo. On Thursday he posted the following on his Instagram story, saying it’s a safe bet he won’t lead the league in hit by pitches this year, while adding emojis of trash cans. An obvious dig toward the Astros.

Even though Manfred was dead wrong in saying that the shame the Astros will deal with is enough of a punishment on its own, he is right. For the rest of their careers, all those Astros players are going to be judged and poked fun at. They should still have gotten punished, but there’s no doubt they’ll be clowned for a long time.
