A little over a month ago, Khalil Mack donated $80,000 to his hometown Walmart in Fort Pierce, Florida. The donation was made with the intention to pay off over 300 shoppers layaway tabs. In a recent investigation, it turns out only $60,000 was made available during the holiday season leaving $20,000 unaccounted for.
A spokesperson for Walmart also said they became aware of the issue after an employee not involved in spending the extra money enlightened them to what was transpiring.
Walmart’s Senior Director of Communications Delia Garcia, had a very vague response in regards to the the recent scandal:
“We have determined the store did not handle the transaction in keeping Walmart’s guidelines and have taken corrective action.”
As of right now, the company is yet to reveal any more information in light of the recent investigation.
