The Chicago Cubs traded for the Detroit Tigers outfielder Nicholas Castellanos shortly before the trade deadline last year. Unfortunately, it looks like the partnership has come to a close as Jon Heyman just reported Castellanos and the Cincinnati Reds have agreed upon a deal.

The length of the deal has been reported to be for four years at around $16 million per year.

What does this mean for the Cubs?

Honestly, this one is going to hurt. I honestly was hoping the rumors of a potential marriage between Castellanos and the Reds were false. But they weren’t. The Cubs are still a very talented team but losing out on Castellanos is going to be a tough bullet to swallow as many fans/media members wanted the outfielder back in a Cubs uniform. Another frustrating part of this deal is that he is staying within the division. The Reds have been rather aggressive this off-season so if they do indeed win the division this season, it will be well deserved.

If there is one thing that is certain going into next year, it’s that the NL Central is going to be an absolute blood bath.
