In the latest episode of Bartsool Sports extremely popular podcast, Pardon My Take, the guys had former Bears quarterback Jay Cutler on the show. To say this episode was entertaining would be a huge understatement. The crew of Big Cat, PFT, and Hank always do a great job each show, but when you add in the personality that Cutty possesses, it just adds a little extra juice to the podcast. In a segment called ‘headline grab’ Big Cat created a very relevant question/potential headline when it came to the Chicago Bears and current quarterback Mitchell Trubisky:

The answer Cutler gave was layered with a ton of insight and first hand experience when it comes to playing quarterback in the city of Chicago.
Jay Cutler’s drops some wisdom
Trubisky is one of the most scrutized quarterbacks in the NFL. There are a lot of reasons as to why this, with one of the more prevalent being the other two QBs in his draft class: Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes. Their instant success will always be tied to Trubisky and his struggles all last season sure didn’t help his case. Here is what Jay had to say when it came to some possible wisdom for the Bears current QB:

“Oh goodness, umm.. Don’t read anything… go underground here bud.”
Jay wet on to talk about the expectations and added pressure that comes with playing in such a passionate sports city like Chicago:
“For a young guy like him [Trubisky], being in Chicago, it’s a tough town. Expectations were huge, so you watch some of his press conferences and stuff — you could tell it really bothered him sometimes I think. Whether that affects him I don’t know.. it has to somehow.”
Here’s is the final piece of advie Jay offered Trubsiky when it comes to blocking out the noise/criticism:
“The more he can get away from that stuff, the better [it will be] for him going forward.”
Trubisky had the right idea
Earlier in the year, a lot of the media/fans clowned Trubisky for wanting the TVs turned off inside Halas Hall to avoid outside criticism that surrounded the team. But according to Cutler’s advice, he had the right idea. Unfortunately, the road ahead for Trubisky and the entire team won’t be getting any easier. If the team continues to struggle, the noise will only grow louder. And the likelihood of blocking it all out will be nearly impossible — even if the TVs are indeed turned off.
