Right-handed reliever Casey Sadler doesn’t have a lot of MLB experience, but he was great in 2019 with the Rays and Dodgers. Now, he’s with the Cubs, who traded for the 29-year-old on Friday.

Sadler was originally drafted by the Pirates in 2010 and made his MLB debut with Pittsburg in 2014. However, Sadler pitched less than 20 innings with the Pirates in parts of three seasons before he finally had success in 2019.

The right-hander pitched 46.1 innings combined with the Rays and Dodgers last season and recorded a 2.14 ERA in his 33 appearances.

Sadler throws in the mid-90s and although he doesn’t have an elite fastball (yet) the Cubs have to love that spin rate and the 52% ground ball percentage from Sadler.

And it turns out that the Cubs have always had an eye on Sadler going back to the 2010 draft.

I mean, the Cubs sure are going to have a bunch of arms throughout the season to pick from. Hopefully, a few of them work out.
