Today is the deadline for teams and players to submit their numbers and agree on a salary for 2020, or go to arbitration where a third party decides what the player’s deal will be for the season.
The Cubs have several players who are arbitration eligible and the first deal has been reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan. The Cubs and Kris Bryant have agreed on an $18.6 million salary for this upcoming season.
Yet, we still don’t know the outcome of Bryant’s grievance case, although everyone is basically reporting that the Cubs will win it.
Anyway, here are the other arbitration eligible Cubs players and their projected salaries. MLBTR pretty much nailed Bryant’s, as they had him getting $18.5 million when they first published their estimates last November.

Javier Baez – $9.3MM
Kyle Schwarber – $8.0MM
Willson Contreras – $4.5MM
Albert Almora – $1.8MM
Kyle Ryan – $1.1MM
Again, those are simply projections from MLBTR and you can see them all here.
If a player and team can’t agree on a salary for 2020, then they’ll go to the arbitration hearing, but they are still able to negotiate until then. However, in recent years teams have used the file and trial system, where they won’t negotiate after the hard deadline which this year is Jan. 10.
Last season the Cubs avoided arbitration with all their players.
