Things are starting to get interesting for the Chicago Bears. The Senior Bowl week is in full swing and the second day of practices has concluded. While much of the focus remains on the action, several people are interested to find out which teams have met with certain prospects. This is no different for the Bears. Thus far it’s been an interesting development for them. There wasn’t much of a surprise when the initial word came out they were talking to the top tight ends down in Mobile.
However, it was a considerable shock at how many inside linebackers they’ve met with already.
A day after talking to Akeem Davis-Gaither of Appalachian State, Chicago found their next target according to Charlie Campbell of Walter Football. They spoke to Logan Wilson, a 6’2 standout from Wyoming. Thus far the general impression of him is encouraging. Here’s what Draft Network analyst Trevor Sikkema said about him.
“Mental processing is top notch. Wilson is able to recognize what offenses and what receiver assignments are doing in pre-snap as to anticipate movement well and position himself in the right spots to make throws and reads difficult for quarterbacks. Understands that zone spacing at a high level. Motor is always running hot. His feet are constantly moving. Always looking to get a jump on where the ball is going.”
Chicago Bears could be hinting at something significant
This substantial interest in inside linebackers is hard to ignore. Then again should it be a surprise? Three of their players at that position are free agents this March in Danny Trevathan, Nick Kwiatkoski, and Kevin Pierre-Louis. Of course, there is a chance that they’ll retain one or two of those names, but nothing is a guarantee. So it’s smart for them to truly dig deep on this upcoming class. Wilson could be one of those underrated names who doesn’t get a lot of fanfare that will be available on Day 3.

Is it any coincidence he has a similar background to Kwiatkoski? Both were forced to shift from defensive back to linebacker due to a lack of speed. Both were known for their physical natures and excellent instincts. Also, they were highly productive and experienced during their college careers. Wilson had over 400 tackles and nine interceptions for Wyoming. Superior numbers to what Kwiatkoski managed at West Virginia.
This is a name worth watching.
