Chase Daniel Opens Up On ESPN: Talks Mitch Trubisky, Matt Nagy, And More

-

Bears back-up quarterback Chase Daniel is a free agent this off-season. And even though Daniel did do a great job when called upon, it is very likely the Bears will move on from him this off-season and look to bring in a new face to join Trubisky in the quarterback room. At this point, no one knows what Daniel’s future in the NFL will hold but there just might be a job waiting for him on television.

Chase Daniel joined ESPN’s Golic and Wingo show today and broke down why the Chicago Bears didn’t meet expectations this season.

Chase also revealed a ton of interesting answers when it came to Matt Nagy, Mitch Trubisky, and more. Let’s take a look at a few that I thought were noteworthy.

On Trubisky’s progression throughout the season:

“I see, especially really in the last 10 games of the year, really starting with that Detroit Lion’s game at home. I just thought there was something that came over him. That he he played a lot better than he maybe did in the first four, five, or six games of the year.”

His comment on the complexity of Matt Nagy’s offense:

“It’s a tough offense to get down. And I tell people all the time you have to (just) play. There’s notjing like expierence in the offense.”

The final segment I want to highlight with Daniel’s interview was when he gave us some insight on how Matt Nagy’s play-calling changed throughout the year and Nagy’s relationship with Mitch Trubisky:

“I think the main thing, if you look at it, is the aggressiveness of the play-calling, Matt sort of got on the same page with Mitch and started trusting him more — or whatever it is. Our offensive line sort of blocked better and you started to see more balls go down the field
