The Cubs are bringing back right-handed reliever Brandon Morrow, re-signing the pitcher to a minor league deal. According to Bob Nightengale, Morrow can make up to $1.25 million in incentives.

Morrow, 35, hasn’t pitched since July 2018. He signed a two-year guaranteed contract heading into that season and was great before he was shut down with an arm injury. Morrow had a 1.47 ERA in 30.2 innings, striking out 31 and walking nine in 35 appearances with the Cubs before the injury bug bit him again.

When healthy Morrow has been a dominant reliever, but he just hasn’t been healthy during his MLB career. So, a minor league deal for Morrow. Nothing guaranteed and the Cubs will be happy if they get anything out of him in 2020. If not, Morrow will be cut loose.

Cool. No reason to be mad at this signing.
