Kyle Long Lost His Damn Mind on Trubisky’s TD Scamper

-

Mitch Trubisky had one of the best games of his career on Thursday night against the Dallas Cowboys. The best part is nobody saw it coming. The Chicago Bears quarterback was known for coming up short in primetime throughout his career and people just assumed more of the same was coming at Soldier Field. They were wrong. Really wrong. He was the best player on the field and it wasn’t that close.

He had three touchdown passes on the night but his biggest and best play came in the 4th quarter. After a nice pass to Allen Robinson to reach the Cowboys 23-yard line, Trubisky took off on the next play, breaking tackles and weaving his way to the end zone, pushing the Bears’ lead to 31-14. It was a magnificent individual effort. One that his teammate and friend Kyle Long was watching the whole way and couldn’t contain his excitement over.

Kyle Long may not be playing but he’s still a Bear

Long has remained on injured reserve for weeks with a hip problem. An unfortunate end to his season. Yet true to the man he is, he hasn’t lost enthusiasm for his team. He’s followed them throughout their process of battling back from a 4-6 low point to reaching .500. Then he watched his quarterback have the night of his life against a team leading its division. If Bears fans were having a great time, one can only imagine how Long felt about it. He knows the quarterback better than anybody.

It wasn’t the defense that lead the way this time. It was Trubisky. If this is the guy the Bears have the rest of 2019 and beyond? They might just be looking good for the future. The final three games will tell the story. Should be fun.
