Teammates Were So Thrilled for Mitch Trubisky After Win in Detroit

-

Mitch Trubisky has had a frustrating season. He’d be the first to tell people that. Expectations were high after such a promising 2018 only to see him tread water at best and even regress in certain areas. People started to think that the 25-year old just didn’t have the chops needed to run a proper NFL offense with any degree of effectiveness. Fans and the media have been on him for months and the Chicago Bears have sensed that pressure throughout the organization.

Nonetheless, teammates have remained vocal in their support of the quarterback. They stated their firm belief that he’d be able to dig his way out of the hole he’s been stuck in. Lately it seemed like their belief was being rewarded. Over the previous three games, Trubisky accounted for 671 yards and six touchdowns with three interceptions. Not otherworldly numbers but certainly a step in the right direction.

Then Thanksgiving in Detroit happened. The quarterback wasn’t just good in this game. He was great. Trubisky threw for 338 yards and three touchdowns and an interception. It wasn’t a perfect performance, but it was everything the Bears could’ve hoped for. After trailing 17-7 in the first half, he led the Bears on a 17-3 run to complete a big comeback. This included a stellar 90-yard drive in the 4th quarter that included two superb throws to Anthony Miller before throwing the go-ahead 12-yard TD to David Montgomery.

Bears teammates were thrilled for Mitch Trubisky

Perhaps nothing exhibited how the locker room felt about the performance better than when the cameras caught Matt Nagy’s postgame speech. He delivered the game ball to Trubisky and the react of teammates was overjoyed. They surrounded him and gave all sorts of pats on the back and rubs on the head. Smiles were all around. Just a celebration for a guy they truly like and respect.

Sure the game wasn’t against an elite defense, but the Bears got the performance out of their quarterback when they needed it most. Once again he found a way to deliver late in a game. He has his faults but nobody can deny the kid continues to play hard. Maybe this performance will be what he needs to regain that swagger he had last year.
