Teddy Bridgewater Predicted to Go Hog Wild on Bears Defense

-

The Chicago Bears defense is not happy with the way things ended for them in London. A game that saw them both failed to prevent the Oakland Raiders from running for over 100 yards on the ground and also failing to sack the quarterback even once. They surrendered 24 points including the go-ahead touchdown on a drive that started from the Raiders 3-yard line. It was a humbling experience for a group of men with a lot of pride in what they do. So try to imagine their reaction to a recent prediction regarding their next opponent in New Orleans Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

The former 1st round pick has done a fabulous job as Drew Brees’ backup this season, guiding his team to a 4-0 record with Brees out due to a thumb injury. His ability to manage the game, play within the offense and limit turnovers is enough to complement a defense that has played some of their best football all season over the past couple of weeks. NFL analyst and former running back Maurice Jones-Drew is so confident in Bridgewater at this point that he sees him having a big day at Soldier Field against the Bears.

“Teddy Bridgewater is 1-1 when playing at Chicago in his career (both with the Vikings), and he threw for fewer than 200 yards in each of those contests. When starting for the Saints in place of Drew Brees this season, “Teddy Two Gloves” has thrown for more than 200 yards in two of his four starts, but he looks more comfortable in Sean Payton’s attack every time he takes the field. In Sunday’s matchup against the Bears, Bridgewater channels the Saints veteran gunslinger and throws for 300 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Saints to their fifth straight win.”

Teddy Bridgewater would need lots of help to make that happen

This scenario is not impossible. Nothing is in the NFL. That being said, it feels like a LOT of things need to happen in order for him to do it. He’d need the Bears defense, one of the most talented in the league to come out completely flat. Then he’d have to get absolutely perfect protection. This part is at least feasible given how good the Saints offensive line has played this season. However, what makes this entire thing hard to swallow is due to armament.

New Orleans announced on Thursday that both star running back Alvin Kamara and starting tight end Jared Cook would miss the game with injuries. That takes away over 35% of their total offensive production in the past six games. A tough thing to overcome. They still have Michael Thomas, veteran Ted Ginn, and steady backup runner Latavius Murray. Yet to think that group would be enough to help Bridgewater to over 300 yards and three touchdowns?

That doesn’t feel like something based in reality.
