Cubs Officially Eliminated From Playoff Contention

-

For the first time since 2014, the Cubs won’t be in the playoffs.

Following last week’s four-game sweep by the Cardinals at Wrigley Field, the Cubs needed a miracle to stay in the Wild Card race, but then they lost to the Pirates and the Brewers just kept on winning.

With Milwaukee’s win on Wednesday night against the Reds, the Cubs were officially knocked out of playoff contention.

The Cubs might end up factoring into the NL Central after all, but obviously not how they wanted to as 2019 comes to a close.

The Brewers are once again trying to chase down the division leaders for the second year in a row. Meanwhile, the Cubs end the season with three games against the Cardinals.

If the Brewers win on Thursday, they’ll only be one game behind the Cardinals in the division.
