Cubs Find Another Heartbreaking Way To Lose

Jack Flaherty dominated the Cubs, giving up just an Anthony Rizzo solo home run in eight innings. Yet, the Cubs, down 4-1, managed to tie the Cardinals at four in the bottom of the ninth inning, only to see Craig Kimbrel allow the game-winning home run to Matt Carpenter in the 10th.

The Cubs, who had a five game lead over the Brewers two weeks ago, are now out of the playoffs with nine games left. The Cubs trail Milwaukee by one game for the second Wild Card spot and two behind Washington for the top Wild Card spot.

The Cardinals are now ahead of the Cubs by four games in the division.
