The Cubs bullpen is getting a boost ahead of their weekend series against the Pirates. Right-hander Brandon Kintzler, who’s been the best reliever for the Cubs throughout this season, is back from the injured list.
Kintzler is back after missing the minimum 10 days. He was sidelined with a right pec strain that he suffered pitching against the A’s during the Cubs last home stand.
James Norwood is headed back to Iowa to make room for Kintzler in the bullpen.
Kintzler has a 2.33 ERA in 46.1 innings in 2019, striking out 40 and walking 10 over 49 appearances.
