Theo Epstein Responds To Report Claiming Cubs Were Unhappy About Joe Maddon’s Comments

-

During the weekend Jordan Bastian wrote an article for MLB.com about Joe Maddon, who was pretty open about his optimism of getting a new contract with the Cubs following the 2019 season.

On Tuesday morning, 670 The Score’s Dan Bernstein said according to a source the Cubs were upset that Maddon publicly discussed his contract situation because there was apparently an agreement that neither side would do so during the season.

You can read more about that here.

Well, Theo Epstein, who said since last offseason that talks of a new contract wouldn’t happen until late in 2019 or after the season, has now responded to Bernstein’s report.

I mean, did anyone actually think he was going to say anything different? If he or anyone else did have a problem, he wasn’t going to keep this storyline going in the media.

Regardless, I personally don’t think it was ever an issue. It’s not like Maddon was complaining about not having a new contract. He was pretty much saying how awesome it is working for the Cubs.

You can read that full story below.
