Kyle Hendricks is the perfect example of the 2019 Cubs. Absolutely dominant at home and bad on the road. Two of his last three outings on the road have been great, but overall he has a 4.76 ERA in 13 starts away from Wrigley Field. However, after pitching seven scoreless innings against the Giants on Thursday, Hendricks lowered his home ERA to 1.79 in 11 starts.
Oh, and Hendricks extended his streak of walking two or fewer batters to 23 straight games too.
The only time in 2019 Hendricks walked more than two hitters in a game? April 1, when he walked three against the Braves in his season debut. Going back to 2018, Hendricks has now walked two or fewer in 41 of his last 42 starts.
Impressive, but still a long way to go to reach the MLB record.
His outing on Thursday was also the fifth time Hendricks pitched at least seven shutout innings this season. It was the fourth time he did it pitching at Wrigley Field.
Hendricks leads the team with starts of at least seven innings and he now has 10 straight quality starts pitching at home.
Some jaw-dropping numbers, as Hendricks continues his historic dominance pitching at Wrigley Field.
Oh and he’s been pretty amazing overall too since making his MLB debut.
