The Cubs bullpen has been a mess this road trip, but there’s good news as Craig Kimbrel is expected to come back on Sunday, when the Cubs play the Pirates in the Little League Classic.

Kimbrel has been on the injured list because of knee inflammation.

While Kimbrel hasn’t been the shutdown closer he’s been throughout his career since signing with the Cubs earlier this summer, he was still locking games down in the ninth.

So far in August the Cubs have had five different pitchers get a save. Rowan Wick was the latest, getting the final three outs in Saturday’s 2-0 win.

Kimbrel last pitched on Aug. 3, saving a 4-1 win over the Brewers. Kimbrel has nine saves in 11 opportunities since making his season debut late in June.
