Earlier in the week I tweeted about Anthony Rizzo’s long home run drought and looking back I didn’t think it was that bad, but it was. Heading into Friday’s game, Rizzo only had four home runs since June 1 and he hadn’t hit a home run at Wrigley Field since May 24.
Rizzo’s last homer came in Los Angeles on June 15.
In the third inning the Cubs got a two-out rally going with back-to-back infield singles by Albert Almora Jr. and Javier Baez. Kris Bryant walked to load the bases and then Rizzo broke his home drought with a grand slam!
That’s Rizzo’s 20th home run of the season.
