The honeymoon between White Sox fans and Daniel Palka ended about two weeks ago and after a 1-for-35 start to the season the team has finally sent the left-handed hitter to the minors.
Following Wednesday’s 4-3, 10-inning loss to the Royals, Palka was optioned to Triple-A.
During his rookie season, Palka hit 27 home runs in 124 games, but he obviously needed to improve on his game, hitting only .240 with a .294 OBP in 2018.
Palka went 1-for-3 after coming in for Yoan Moncada during Wednesday’s game. The broken-bat single snapped a 0-for-34 streak, including 32 straight at-bats without a hit to begin this season.
