Today’s the home opener at Wrigley Field for the Cubs and after a 2-7 start on the road the team must be happy to be back in Chicago. As bad as the team has been on the field, the first embarrassment in the home opener goes to whoever decided the following sign would look great in the press box.
Madeline Kenney, who’s a sports reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times, posted this picture of a 1945 sign in the Wrigley Field press box that reads “no women admitted.”
Oh. Newest addition to Cubs press box. pic.twitter.com/ABcaOc6Cj7

Nothing says 1945 nostalgia like blatant sexism.
The Cubs eventually removed the sign.
Update: The Cubs will be removing the sign immediately, per Julian Green. https://t.co/tmxPwly2lU

The Cubs have taken down their “no women allowed” art. They replaced it with a photo of Wrigley Field on #PinkOut Night pic.twitter.com/a0Yt1GmqfN

In similar situations, you always have to ask, how did people view that sign, read what it said and were then like yeah, that’s totally acceptable. Hang that sign up right now!
And if you couldn’t give a shit about that, then here, Tom Ricketts isn’t spending more money than he wants to on improving the Cubs roster.
On with @mullyhaugh, Tom Ricketts addressed #Cubs' available budget, including saying of Craig Kimbrel, "That may just be a bigger ticket than what we can swing."
