Well, this is certainly interesting. MLB has had teams play all over the world, most recently a series in Mexico in 2018 between the Padres and Dodgers. Now, there’s a report that the Cubs and Cardinals could play in London in 2020.

Via the Chicago Tribune.

Two people familiar with the discussions tell The Associated Press that Major League Baseball is considering one of two matchups for its 2020 series in London: New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals or Chicago Cubs vs. St. Louis Cardinals.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity Friday because no announcements had been authorized. An announcement is expected after opening day this year.

MLB will feature a two-game set between the Red Sox and Yankees on June 29-30, in London this year. There will be several more games in different parts of the globe in 2020, as the CBA has an agreement to start the 2020 season in Asia, games in Mexico in April, May games in Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic and June games in London.

Back in 2000, the Cubs and Mets played two games in Japan to begin the season. They were the first two MLB games played outside of North America.

All in favor of the Cubs playing across the pond. Of course, the schedule better not screw them, but that shouldn’t be a concern.
