Ed Reed Reveals How Good He Expects Eddie Jackson Will Be

-

Ed Reed certainly must feel like he’s on top of the world again at this point. The former nine-time Pro Bowler and Defensive Player of the Year became a first-ballot Hall of Famer for the 2019 class. A rare honor for a defensive back. Not only that, but he also had a featured appearance on one of the best commercials the NFL has ever done, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the league.

Celebrating his legacy is well within his right. However, Reed knows that in order for the NFL to thrive, it needs to look to the future. He had his run, and it was a great one. Now the question must be asked. Is there another Ed Reed out there? If one were to ask the man himself, he’s already pinpointed who he thinks that is.

Reed hasn’t shied away from his love of Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson. The similarities between their playing styles are evident. As it turns out, Reed has been following Jackson’s exploits ever since Alabama. He believes it’s only a matter of time before the kid ends up in the same place he is now.

That’s about as high a praise as one could ever get from NFL royalty. If it comes true, it would also be a landmark moment in Bears history. Jackson would become the first defensive back to ever reach Canton as a member of the Bears. Across almost a century of existence, the team has never put a corner or safety in the Hall. So it would be extra special if Jackson were to fulfill Reed’s prophecy.
