Dane Dunning Avoids Surgery On His Arm…For Now

-

Dane Dunning, one of the top White Sox pitching prospects in their farm system, seems to have dodged a huge bullet. Earlier this week it was reported that he was experiencing some forearm soreness. Never a good sign for a pitcher, especially after Dunning was already shut down last season due to injury.

Fans all seemed to expect the worst scenario: Tommy John surgery. With the disappointment of no Manny Machado still fresh in everyone’s mind, another long term injury to Dunning would have been icing on the cake to a horrible off season.

Instead, the White Sox and their fans were given some good news today.

Last year saw the White Sox lose Michael Kopech, Jake Burger, Dane Dunning, Luis Robert, Micker Adolfo plus many other prospects due to injury. With Luis Basabe breaking his hand already this spring, another injury to Dunning could have completely broken the White Sox morale. Instead, Dunning looks to be alright for the near future. Hopefully he is able to ease himself back in and get back to dominating minor league batters like he did all of last year.
