The Cubs were strongly pursuing infielder Daniel Descalso according to Ken Rosenthal last week and now the MLB insider is reporting that they are close to signing the free agent.

In 2018, he hit 13 home runs with a slash line of .238/.353/.436, in 349 at-bats with the Diamondbacks. He can play all over the infield, but hasn’t started at shortstop since 2016, when he was with the Rockies.
Jon says the deal is done. No official word from the Cubs yet. Descalso can play multiple positions and posted a 111 wRC+ last year. Saw FB% (46.3% in '18 vs. 36.9 for career) and HR/FB rate (11.4 in '18 vs. 6.9 for career) spike last season. https://t.co/wrzbTIMN8y
