Jabari Parker Has Been One Of The Worst Players In The NBA

-

In a day and age where analytical data and statistics are more available to the casual fan than ever before, we have the ability to judge players based on so much more than just their points/rebounds/assists stat line. One of the most popular, all-encompassing basketball statistics is Real Plus-Minus. Real Plus-Minus is defined as:

“Player’s estimated on-court impact on team performance, measured in net point differential per 100 offensive and defensive possessions. RPM takes into account teammates, opponents and additional factors”

There are 434 NBA players that have played enough minutes to qualify. Jabari Parker ranks 418th in the entire league.

On the surface, Parker’s 16.2 ppg on 46% shooting and 6 rpg look perfectly adequate. But stats like Real Plus-Minus allow us to see just how much his poor defensive effort, subpar floor vision and questionable shot selection has affected the Bulls in an extremely negative way.

With Lauri Markkanen and Bobby Portis sidelined by injuries, Jabari Parker had a golden opportunity to prove to the Bulls that he was worth their $20M investment in him. All things considered, he’s done the exact opposite.
