Martellus Again Proves He’s a Tool and Matt Forte Wasn’t Having It

-

Matt Forte doesn’t have the nicest memories of facing the New England Patriots. Both games he played against them in 2010 and 2014 ended in nasty blowouts. However, that didn’t stop him from having good memories from those games. He went on Instagram to recall one such throw from Jay Cutler in Foxborough. A nice moment of the former running back remembering his longtime QB.

However, true to former Martellus Bennett just couldn’t let it go without getting a word in. He made a comment that was typical of him. Unnecessary and wiseass. It was at that point that Forte made a retort of his own that perfectly summed up who he is as a person and why he’s revered to this day. While Bennett? He’s a footnote.

Indeed that sounds exactly like Bennett. He never embraced the challenge or the work necessary to be great. He was content with being good and simply went to whichever teams had the best chance to get him a ring. It was hardly a shock he relished joining the Patriots in 2016, riding the wave on their latest Super Bowl triumph. Never mind he was a minor influence on their entire playoff run.

Answer this question. In 10 years, will anybody remember him for his play on the field? Doubtful. Meanwhile Forte, despite never winning a title will have plenty of fans who viewed him as one of the most versatile backs of his era. Somebody who had a Hall of Fame-caliber career even though he’ll likely never get there.

Maybe that’s because he embraced the defeats and grew stronger from them. Bennett just quit and went somewhere else where it wasn’t hard for him.
