VGK Fans Are Pissed About Single-Game Ticket Prices For Upcoming Season

-

Single game tickets for the upcoming 2018-2019 season went on sale for the Golden Knights this past month and fans are PISSED. The cheapest ticket you can find through the team’s website is still north of $100. To put that into perspective, the cheapest ticket you could find at this point last year, was in the low $30 range.

I personally bought tickets to the home opener from last year when they went on sale for around $125 a ticket, which is understandable for the very first game in franchise history. This year? Cheapest is around $300.

“We need to have an option for ‘worst available’ tickets so that we have aa chance at getting something affordable” – @TheGildedJester chimed in on twitter. “The problem is with seat availability and the price. We need 5k more seats” – @riseupliam also posted her displeasure. Point being? Many fans right now are unhappy.

IT IS OKAY to be mad that ticket prices went up. Many people won’t be able to go to as many games now simply because they cannot afford it. However, if you take a step back and analyze why it’s so high, you may begin to understand that this isn’t the worst thing in the world.

You take a look at the hottest shows on the strip: Absinthe, Michael Jackson’s Tribute Show, Elton John’s show, etc, all of the shows run about $100 a ticket. The Golden Knights ARE the hottest ticket in town. They are the defending western conference champions. They are returning a large chunk of their roster and are expected to compete for the Stanley Cup again this year. I’d be concerned if prices were not high.

This is the price we, as fans in the entertainment capital of the country, have to pay to watch our team live. What is interesting is that our prices compare to how much tickets go for say in Toronto: A hockey hot-bed where the fans live and breath hockey 24/7. Is Vegas getting to that level? Maybe not yet. But for fans of the game, and of course the Golden Knights, this is actually a good thing.

So where do you stand on this issue? Do you think it doesn’t matter that they are the defending WCF champs and that it is a new season? That the “average” fan should be able to go? Or is it acceptable that the prices go up due to the team’s success? We at Sin City Sports Mockery want to hear what you think!

For those who still want to watch the games this year with other VGK fan fanatics, “the D” hotel and casino has watch parties for games, Citi National Arena is a great place to watch games, or even outside the arena on their huge big screen proved to be a fun atmosphere during the playoffs last season.

Or if all else fails? Make really good friends with someone who has season tickets.
