The Chicago Bears were not a team shaking their heads at the greatness of Aaron Rodgers after their 24-23 loss in Green Bay. A game in which they allowed 21 points in the 4th quarter. They had the look and feel of a team that knew they let on slip away because of their own mistakes rather than the great plays of their opponent. Count Eddie Jackson among those who weren’t afraid to say so.
It’s clear the Bears safety wasn’t depressed after the game. He was more frustrated than anything. Coming from Alabama, he’s a young man who’s used to winning. He understands the mentality of stepping on a teams’ throat when they’re down. To play a full 60 minutes of relentless football. He feels the Bears only did half of that.
Jackson said didn’t mince words when asked about what happened. Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune got his blunt answer.
“The whole team got lazy,” Bears safety Eddie Jackson said. “We got too complacent, especially on the defensive side of the ball. We didn’t finish. We came out the first half swinging. The energy was there. The second half I felt like the energy was low. Everybody got complacent, and we lost focus that we still had a game to finish.”
Eddie Jackson saw what everyone else did that night
He’s not wrong. Ironically, everything seemed to start in motion after Aaron Rodgers left the field on a cart to have his knee examined. It was Deshone Kizer at that point and everybody knew he wasn’t going to beat the Bears. So the defense began to relax and cruise, letting their talent handle things. It worked the rest of the half.

However, that was their mistake. Rodgers returned in the second half and by that point the Bears had lost their edge. Anybody who has played the game knows that once you take your foot off the gas, it’s extremely difficult to get revved up again. Rodgers got hot, going up-tempo on offense and soon the defense began to wear down. They couldn’t get to him.
Three touchdowns later it was all over with Jackson having to be the one experiencing the worst burn of the night on a Randall Cobb 75-yard touchdown. Some might be broken by such a defeat. Judging by Jackson’s response, the Bears are pissed off more than anything. They committed a cardinal sin winning teams never do.
Good on him for letting his teammates know it.
