Even when David Bote isn’t hitting walk-off grand slams, he’s doing something great for the Chicago Cubs.

Whether it’s getting on base, hitting for power, making highlight reel plays on defense, or scoring on a wild pitch that’s only a few feet away from home plate, Bote is doing everything right now to help the Cubs win games.

After being out of the lineup for Tuesday’s 7-0 shutout loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, Bote returned and immediately got things going against Junior Guerra, singling with two outs in the first inning. That kept things alive for Anthony Rizzo, who quickly gave the Cubs a 2-0 lead.

Then, in the third inning Bote showed off his brilliant glove work over at third base. Well, he didn’t need his glove on this amazing bare-handed play to finish the inning.

Bote wasn’t done.

The Cubs added two runs to their lead in the fourth inning with a Jason Heyward RBI-double and after a wild pitch moved Bote to third base later in the inning, his aggressive base running gave the Cubs a 4-0 advantage.

Just great instincts there by Bote and again he’s doing everything right now to help the Cubs win games.

As a matter of fact, Bote has played in 35 games this season and the Cubs have a .714 winning percentage in them.

Bote is now up to a .333/.417/.531 slash line in his rookie season. What an amazing start to his career.
