Not only did Yu Darvish pitch extremely well against the Milwaukee Brewers for the second time this season, but he also got his first hit with the Chicago Cubs during Friday’s 3-2 win at Wrigley Field.
Darvish was hitless through his first three starts, but on Friday he hit a liner to right field that got under the glove of Domingo Santan in right field. Basically any other player would have been standing on third base, but Darvish isn’t necessarily the most mobile pitcher and well he just looked awkward running the bases.
How bad was it? Well, he was able to laugh it off, but this was definitely not pretty.
Yu should’ve gone for three. 😂 pic.twitter.com/jpBDk3CIwk

Houston Astros starter Justin Verlander poked some fun at Darvish for giving pitcher’s a bad reputation being good athletes.
Yu…. 🤦♂️. Not doing a lot here to help us dispel the pitchers aren’t athletes thing. https://t.co/685zoAJzXf

But hey, that hit was good enough to call it even on the whole not being an athlete thing.
Yu just needs some more practice running the bases.
Darvish has five career hits and interestingly enough three of them have been extra bases, with one home run and two doubles.
Just be careful next time.
Yu Darvish double and then he slips lol #Cubs pic.twitter.com/c5jKBM2Uo5
