Leonard Floyd Has Practice Stories of Mitch Trubisky Being a Total Savage

-

Mitch Trubisky nickname came from his delight in torturing defense

There had been rumors circulating out of practices that Trubisky was not taking his role as backup quarterback lightly. With it came the job of running the scout team. He was tasked with giving the defense looks for the upcoming opponent. Most of the time the expectation is for the scout team to not try to show up the starters.

It seems the young quarterback wasn’t having any of that. He took the liberty of nipping at the defense with big plays at every opportunity, and delighting in every second of it.

“He’s competitive, really competitive, but with a smile on his face.,” said Floyd, shaking his head. “He’ll beat you, then be walking back to the huddle, look over and just smile at you. He’ll beat you with a smile on his face.

He’s got a lotta [swagger]. I like his swag’, his demeanor,” Floyd said. “He’ll rip you but he’s got control of the offense. He’ll switch cadences, do stuff you’re not expecting, make plays.”

That’s downright savage behavior for a rookie. The fact it’s coming from the Bears new starting quarterback? It is a level of competitiveness from that position fans of this team haven’t seen in years. If he’s already this confident and in command of the offense, how much better can he get with more experience?
