Having only spent three and a half seasons in Chicago, it’s easy for fans to forget about Jim Thome’s short stint with the White Sox, but looking back, it’s worth noting just how good of a hitter he really was.
In saying that, Thome struggled in the early part of his career and he credits a lot of his success to Charlie Manuel, who helped provide a rather simple solution to a rather big problem back in 1993.
It’s only natural for a player like Jim Thome to have a routine when entering the batter’s box. Having played for 22 seasons and having hit over 600 home runs, slowing things down was the key to speeding things up so to speak for big Jim.
