The Chicago Cubs made a few moves before their series finale against the New York Yankees on Sunday night, placing left-handed pitcher Brett Anderson on the disabled list. Fellow lefty, Rob Zastryzny was optioned down to Triple-A Iowa to make room for right-handed reliever Justin Grimm and left-handed hitter Tommy La Stella.
Anderson only recorded one out on Saturday against the Yankees, yielding five earned runs on six hits. The free agent pick up has been awful for the Cubs, putting up an 8.18 ERA in six starts.
#Cubs moves: Brett Anderson to DL with lower back strain. Justin Grimm back. Tommy La Stella is also up from AAA, Rob Z optioned to AAA.

So, the Cubs have an opening for their fifth starter spot, as Anderson hasn’t been good at all leading up to his DL stint.
Pretty simple really, I'm embarrassed…get healthy and pitch better otherwise I don't need to be here, simple as that.

We could see Mike Montgomery as the replacement, or Eddie Butler, who has been superb at Triple-A.
Maddon says it's more than likely a DL situation with Anderson. Names Montgomery and Butler as options for the rotation

Also on the injury front, Jason Heyward is once again out of the Cubs lineup for Sunday night’s game. Heyward has been dealing with a bruised knuckle.
Broom repellent.
