Kane’s Hat Trick Hats Will Be Made Into Museum Exhibit

-

I was there standing and cheering for Patrick Kane’s Hat Trick on March 1st as hats flooded the ice. It was hat night so I knew there would be more hitting the ice than normal. The whole time I was just thinking, “I wonder where all those hats go?”

The next evening I received a message from one of my friends with the answer. The Blackhawks donated the hats from both of his recent hat tricks to the Chicago Sports Museum, located next to Harry Caray’s Restaurant in Water Tower.

The museum and restaurants are owned by Grant DePorter. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, he’s the man who bought the Steve Bartman baseball to blow it up.

He may be the single biggest collector of anything related to Chicago sports and he shares it at the museum. It is an amazing place to see his constantly evolving collection and it receives regular updates so it’s not always the same.

I am excited to see how they display all the hats and I will be sure to make a trip once a date is set. I’m hoping they’ll just throw them in a room and you can roll around in them like a ball pit. Whatever they choose, I’ll keep the Sports Mockery fans up to date so you can relive the moments over again.

I’ve gained a little piece of mind about what happens to all those hats. At least this time.
