Welcome to college football’s silly season.
There are reports out there that coach Brian Kelly has possibly been preparing to leave the Notre Dame football program.
(Although, to be honest, that seems like the kind of overtures you would make if you’re preparing to be told to leave after a 4-8 season.)
So, what if Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbick decides to pull the trigger on getting rid of Kelly?
Jason McIntyre of the The Big Lead has a name that, in true Trumpian style, he’s been “hearing.”
If Brian Kelly leaves Notre Dame, the name I'm hearing ND would pursue is Mark Dantonio.https://t.co/7r0YC9MAtQ

Of course, Dantonio would be available to chat about the job right away, as he’s picking up the pieces from his own 3-9 season at Michigan State.
Also, hasn’t Dantonio’s success risen Michigan State’s profile close to Notre Dame’s at this point?
Seems like a stretch, but with LSU and Texas settling their coaching uncertainty quickly this past weekend, there isn’t too much big-time coaching intrigue left to go around throughout the country.
