Maybe last night’s crazy game is just what the White Sox needed to turn things around. The South Siders showed tremendous heart last night in coming back from seven runs down to win the series opener and will look to take that momentum into tonight’s matchup with the Detroit Tigers.
Trailing Detroit by just half a game in the AL Central, the White Sox will send Miguel Gonzalez to the mound in hopes that he’ll have yet another solid outing. This will be the right-hander’s eighth start this season and he’s only given up more than three runs once and that was in his season debut back on April 25 against the Blue Jays. Since then, he’s given up just 11 runs in 35 innings for a solid 2.83 ERA and finally picked up a win in his last start after factoring into only one other decision in 2016.
The Tigers will have Jordan Zimmermann on the bump, who’s coming off of his worst outing since coming to the Tigers. The veteran right-hander allowed seven runs on eight hits in only 4 2/3 innings against the Blue Jays this past Wednesday. However, he does have a 2-0 record with a 1.83 ERA in three career starts against Chicago.
