The first week of the 2016 season was not kind to the Twins. They played their first six games on the road, three in Baltimore and three in Kansas City, and lost all six. Minnesota is hoping that today’s home opener against the Chicago White Sox will bring them their first win of the year, but they’ll have a tough task ahead of them as the Sox, who got an unexpected day off yesterday, send Jose Quintana to the mound for the series opener. Quintana, who had his second start of the season pushed back a day due to yesterday’s game against the Indians being postponed, looks to get his own first victory of the season as he did not factor into the decision in his first outing.
Minnesota will counter with right-hander Kyle Gibson, who struggled a bit with his command in his first start last week, giving up four runs, seven hits and five walks in five innings against the Orioles last week. He’ll face a White Sox lineup that includes three guys he’s never faced before, including Adam Eaton, who rejoins the club today following the birth of his son over the weekend.
