The Best Chicago Bears Of All Time By Jersey Number: #40-49

1786

#45-Gary Fencik

Tenure: 1976-1987

“It’s Gary here and I’m Mr. Clean…They call me Hitman, don’t know what they mean.” Not only is Gary Fencik on a gold record, a little ditty called “The Super Bowl Shuffle“, but he was also a decent football player. I mean, if you call being the franchise’s all-time leader in interceptions (38) and total tackles (1, 102) being a good football player. Fencik was the captain of the Bears defense throughout the 1980s, including that legendary defense of 1985 that led the team to a 15-1 record and the Super Bowl XX championship. He was a First Team All-Pro in 1981 and a Second Team All-Pro in that title year of 1985.
