#26-Bennie McRae

Tenure: 1962-1970

I know you may have wanted to see Matt Suhey here (I had him third), but cornerback Bennie McRae takes the top spot for #26. He played halfback and was a world-class track star at the University of Michigan. McRae played nine years for the Bears and holds the team record for most interceptions returned for a touchdown with four. He’s fifth on the all-time team interceptions list with 27 and was another big part of that 1963 NFL Championship. He was traded to the Giants in prior to the start of the 1971 season.
