The Glaring Hole In The Patrick Kane Story Everybody Is Talking About

By now, just about everybody is caught up on the Patrick Kane investigation. The latest details include a report from the Buffalo News that describes biting and scratching reported by the victim after a sexual encounter at Kane’s house. You can read about it here.

As the general public continues to digest the details of the story (from the victim’s perspective), there’s been a ton of attention focused on one particular part. An excerpt from Buffalo News:

The woman alleges that Kane invited her and a female friend to his home for a private party after they met him last Saturday night at SkyBar, a popular nightclub on Franklin Street, the sources said.

Shortly after she and her friend arrived at Kane’s home on Old Lakeshore Road, the accuser alleges that she went by herself into another room, where Kane followed her, overpowered her and raped her, the sources said.

The woman left Kane’s home with her friend and used a cellphone to call a relative immediately after the alleged attack. She then went to a local hospital for examination, and police were called afterward, the sources said.

Local news outlets have focused heavily on public victim bashing and attempts by the fans to blindly discredit a story they don’t have all the facts on. Julie DiCaro described it well here.

However, the public can only speculate on what they know and the current details of the story, so far, don’t add up. There’s one glaring hole everybody is asking about.

If Patrick Kane left the bar with two women, was it only him?

If so, what did the other woman do while her friend was in the room with Kane, by herself, and allegedly being raped? They seemed to have left the house together immediately after, what was the friend doing during the alleged crime?

There’s a rumor that the victim also deleted all her social media accounts and drugs were possibly involved. Again, that’s just a rumor.

There’s another rumor police were questioning Kane’s cousin (same one from the cab incident) who was said to possibly be involved. Is it possible someone else was with the “other” girl when the crime took place at Kane’s house?

The concept of shaming any victim in a rape investigation is disgusting and unfortunate, but the details of the story are a very important part of this alleged crime. I would suspect the questions about this will be answered soon enough, the Buffalo News is slowly releasing details at their own strategic pace. But, if they are in process of obtaining evidence to answer these questions surrounding the night, then they can’t expect people not to speculate until then.

Waiting on you Buffalo.
