White Sox Manager Rick Renteria And Jimmy Cordero Suspended

-

White Sox reliever Jimmy Cordero, manager Rick Renteria and pitching coach Don Cooper were all ejected during Friday night’s game against the Cubs after Cordero hit Willson Contreras on the back in the seventh inning.

The action was deemed intentional then and now MLB has handed suspensions to Cordero and Renteria. Meanwhile, Cooper has also been hit with a fine for his outburst following the incident.

Cordero is getting a three-game suspension and Renteria one game, which will be served Saturday night.

Cordero, who leads the White Sox in relief appearances this season, can appeal the suspension and won’t have to serve it until the process is completed. As of now it’s not known whether Cordero will appeal the suspension or not.

Regardless of when and how long the suspension is for Cordero, it will be during the regular season. So, he should be available next week for the start of the playoffs.

And well, following the beaning incident Renteria of course denied there was any intent from Cordero.

But, you know, no pitcher has ever hit anyone on purpose…
