You Can Cross This QB Off The Board For The Bears

-

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know the Bears are in the market for a back up quarterback to join Mitchell Trubisky in the QB room. A lot of names have been tossed around the last few weeks, including veteran Ryan Fitzpartick. Unfortunately, it looks like the 37 year-old will likely be heading back to Miami next season.

Fitzpatrick is still under-contract

The Dolphins inked Fitzmagic to a two-year deal worth $11 million back in March of 2019. That leaves one more year left on the contract and Miami Dolphins GM Chris Grier ‘fully expects’ the long-time NFL journeyman to be back with the ‘Phins in 2020.

No Fitzmagic in Chicago

Landing Ryan Fitzpatrick was already unlikely but no doubt would have been an ideal pick-up if the Bears were serious in giving Mitchell Trubisky some form of competition. Although, Fitz’s career has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride, he still posses the ability to lead an NFL caliber team. He showed this last season where he appeared in 15 games for the Dolphins who certainly didn’t boast a talented roster in 2019. He threw for 3,529 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. It is also key to note that his mobility (although he doesn’t have a burner) would have also been ideal for the Bears as he rushed for 243 yards and a total of 4 touchdowns. Even though the Bears will more than likely miss out on Fitzmagic, there are still a ton of other options the team can explore moving forward.
