Trade Talks Involving Kris Bryant Are Heating Up Again

-

The Chicago Cubs avoided arbitration with the former MVP earlier in the month but that hasn’t put a stop to the rumors that have swirled around Kris Bryant all off-season. In a recent report from ESPN 1000’s very own Jesse Rogers, he has revealed that the Atlanta Braves have supposedly re-engaged in trade talks for the Chicago Cubs third baseman. The speculation surrounding the Braves rekindled interest in Bryant is more than likely due to the team missing out on the re-signing of Josh Donaldson. This has in-turn translated to the team circling back to the Cubs and thus reigniting potential trade rumors.

Why this shouldn’t surprise anyone

As stated previously, there were indeed talks between both the Cubs and Braves earlier in the month. It was first reported by USA Today’s Bob Nightengale in a tweet back on January 15th:

In the last sentence, he said that conversations between the two clubs were expected to be revisited but I don’t think anyone thought it would be re-explored this quickly. Again, these reports could be nothing more than just rumors/speculation. But then again, you never know what could happen in this league given it’s current state. The best thing we can due right now, is simply grab a bag of popcorn, sit back — and just enjoy the show.
