REPORT: White Sox Working Hard To Trade For Rangers RF

-

According to The Athletic’s Jim Bowden and MLB Network analyst Jon Heyman, the White Sox are in talks with the Rangers to trade for right fielder Nomar Mazara.

Scott Merkin, who covers the White Sox for MLB.com, also hears the same and points out previous interest from the South Side.

Mazara, 24, has a career slash line of .261/.320/.435 in four seasons with the Rangers.

Mazara doesn’t walk muck, strikes out more than 100 times a year, but his numbers have slightly improved from year to year. However, he’s pretty much been the same offensive player since 2016. Not really a good defender and Mazara has three years left of team control.

Mazara has a career OPS well below .700 against left-handed pitching.

UPDATE

No announcement of a trade by Rick Hahn, but he said Tuesday night that a trade is more likely than a free agent signing by the end of this week’s Winter Meetings for the White Sox.

Meanwhile, Craig Mish is reporting that the Marlins are also interested in trading for Mazara.
