Javon Wims Revealed Injury Status While Pranking an Uber Driver

-

Nobody can ever say that Javon Wims doesn’t have a sense of humor. The second-year receiver was just starting to find a groove over the past couple of weeks. With Taylor Gabriel out due to a concussion, it gave the former 7th round pick a chance to get more looks from Mitch Trubisky in the passing game. He caught five passes for 56 yards in the win over Detroit on Thanksgiving. Then he came narrowly close to scoring a touchdown twice against Dallas on Thursday Night Football.

Unfortunately on the second try, he landed awkwardly in the back of the end zone and hit the ground clutching his knee. Some feared the worst. That he might’ve torn an ACL. Wims ended up walking off under his own power but did not finish the game. Since then people have wondered where his health is at with 10 days to rest before the climactic matchup with the Green Bay Packers next Sunday.

Ian Rapoport and others soon reported that it was a minor knee sprain and he should be okay. The receiver himself though decided to have a little fun. While taking an Uber, he posted a video on Instagram of him speaking with the driver. A guy who had absolutely no clue who Wims was. It was there the receiver stated he felt reasonably confident that he would be alright.

Javon Wims could be a big help to Bears in Green Bay

It will be interesting to see what the Bears do with Wims if Gabriel is set to return from his concussion this week or not. The last time the Bears played the Packers, Wims saw just 20 total snaps on offense. Whenever he’s gone in excess of 55 this year (2 games), he has nine catches for 112 yards. His big body and wide catch radius can be beneficial to Trubisky both on 3rd down and in the red zone. His hands have also proven a bit more reliable than Gabriel’s.

Either way, a lot more will be needed from him and the rest of the receiving corps than what happened back on opening night. Green Bay isn’t known for taking it easy whenever the Bears come to town.
