Ian Rapoport Says Bears Will Not Move On From Mitch Trubisky

-

Where do you stand on the Mitch Trubisky fence? Given the way the 2019 season has gone, Chicago Bears fans could best be called 50/50 at this point. Many remain steadfast in their support of the 25-year old, believing he’s still capable of realizing his potential and just needs more time. Others think that 2018 was his peak and he just doesn’t have the necessary mental tools to step his game up another notch.

Yet the opinions of fans and media are what matter most. It’s the Bears organization itself from the coaches to the front office and ownership. Where do they stand on Trubisky? According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, everything he’s heard is that nobody at Halas Hall has lost faith in Trubisky. They feel a lot of his struggles have come in part due to issues elsewhere on the offense. This includes a lack of a running game, receiver running bad routes and dropping passes and inconsistent pass protection.

While there has been a ton of speculation regarding Trubisky’s future in 2020, Rapoport indicates that the idea of moving on from him is pretty much off the table. Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace, along with plenty others are committed to seeing this thing through to the very end.

Mitch Trubisky has four games left to help himself

The good news is Trubisky has really helped himself the past few weeks. He enters December coming off the best game of his season, throwing for 338 yards and three touchdowns against Detroit. He doesn’t have to light up the scoreboard but he’ll at least have to be adequate against Dallas, Green Bay, Kansas City, and Minnesota to ensure that what Rapoport says is true. The organization is clearly still behind him, but opinions can change fast in the NFL if the bad performances start to pile up.
