Chicago Bears Nearly Pulled Off the Craziest TD Ever to Force OT

-

The Chicago Bears watched their season end yet again at the hands of the Green Bay Packers. However, this ending was a lot different from the others. They had a number of chances to tie the game in the final minutes, each one crazier than the last. Yet the best/worst/wildest was saved for the absolute last play when Mitch Trubisky fired a pass to Tarik Cohen. This is when the laterals started.

Cohen got it back to Trubisky down the field. The Bears quarterback ducked and weaved through tacklers until he finally got the ball to Jesper Horsted. The rookie tight end galloped deep into the red zone. This is where it got nuts. Just a couple of yards behind him and to his right was Allen Robinson. If Horsted pitches the ball at the right moment, the star Bears receiver has a walk-in touchdown, setting up a possible two-point conversion to force overtime.

Sadly Horsted saw Robinson too late and when he tried to pitch it, Packers defenders impeded him and the ball was fumbled. Green Bay recovered and escaped with the win.

An unfortunate end to a wild game where the Bears looked like they were left for dead 21-3 before mounting a gutty comeback late in the 4th quarter. It’s clear they have some problems to work out. They’re technically still in the playoff mix, but that could end later today if Minnesota or the Rams win.
