Allen Robinson: The Most Underrated WR In The NFL

-

According to Pro Football Reference, Allen Robinson clocks in as the 9th best wide receiver in the NFL. Yet, he rarely gets the recognition he deserves. That ends here. The 26 year old has been knocking on the door when it comes to the discussion of the top wide-outs in the league.

It’s time to let him in.

The numbers don’t tell the whole story

13 games into the 2019 season and Robinson’s numbers are already misleading:

116 Targets (8th) | 898 Yards (20th) | 7 TD (Tied for 8th)

Subscribe to the BFR podcast and ride shotgun with Dave and Ficky as they break down Bears football like nobody else.

A-Rob has more TD passes than Stefon Diggs, Tyreek Hill, and Julio Jones. He also has more yards than Odell Beckham Jr, DaVante Adams, and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

To fully comprehend and appreciate these stats we need to take a deeper look at the quarterbacks throwing him the ball this year:

He’s had Chase Daniel (49th ranked QB in 2019) for two games and Mitch Trubisky for the others. Now Trubisky has recently shown vast improvement but that doesn’t make up for how poorly he played for the first eight games of the season.

This is a key reason why his numbers haven’t been consistent or jaw-dropping. Again, don’t let that fool you.

The talent is there.

The toe-drags are textbook.

His hands are basically glue.

The man is a top WR in the NFL but in order for his numbers to reflect that, he will need more consistent play at the quarterback position. It is as simple as that. Will Trubisky be able to provide this stability? Who knows but for now he is making the absolute most of what he’s been dealt:

Get Allen Robinson to the Pro Bowl

If there is one thing I think everyone can agree on when it comes the six year pro, is that he is having a Pro Bowl caliber season. If you do want to see him represent the Chicago Bears this year, be sure to go and vote!
