Manager Update: Carlos Beltrán Denies Interview With Cubs

-

Last week we learned that the Cubs wanted to interview Carlos Beltrán for their manager position, but the Yankees special assistant only has interest in one managerial spot.

Beltrán, who played part of seven seasons with the Mets, has his sights set on the big apple. The nine-time all-star has reportedly denied interviews with the Cubs and Padres, who reached out in hopes of bringing him in to discuss their respective openings.

It’s Mets or bust for Beltrán if he becomes a manager starting in 2020.

So far the Cubs have interviewed four candidates, Mark Loretta, Will Venable, Joe Girardi and David Ross. The Cubs are also reportedly interested in interviewing Astros bench coach Joe Espada.
